Rising Star Guild The Rising Star Guild began in 2001 by a group of Issaquah women who originally knew each other through the Issaquah School District and PTA. As their children became older they wanted to continue to meet monthly and give back to their community. The Guild’s fundraising events have included everything from garage sales to tea parties to wine tastings, and fundraisers at local stores and boutiques. In 2008, the Guild organized its first Woman Against Violence Everywhere (WAVE) bike ride from Issaquah to Bellevue and back, raising over $23,000. Over the years, the Rising Star Guild has raised more than $150,000 for EDVP programs. The Guild also helps EDVP fill an important need in the community. Guild members have helped secure speaking engagements for EDVP advocates in school classrooms to provide education and training related to domestic violence and teen dating violence as well as volunteer on the 24 hour crisis line in their homes after hours. Vital services needed for successful education and outreach! The Guild holds monthly meetings in each other’s homes and are always looking for new members. If you’re interested in joining the Rising Star Guild, or starting one of your own, contact Kelly Becker, Director of Development. |
